This was so much fun to draw, and I hope one day the story that birthed this drawing sees publication….and as much as I would like, it is not mine to tell.
What I can say is that the story was created by a couple of friends of mine who are married. Both are super creative. At any rate, they keep aquaria and enjoy crayfish. If you have ever kept crayfish, you know how ridiculous they can act. So while they are watching this thing run around like an idiot, they started making up stories about it. Hence, A’kir was born.
So one day, the gentleman in question tells me about the story and asked me to draw it for her as a gift. One of her many talents is as a visual artist, so I should have known better…especially since it had not been done yet. But it sounded like a fun drawing and I wasn’t thinking, so I did it. There was some conflict then, but it has passed. Maybe putting this up will light the fire to get this story done so it doesn’t get lost to time.
