Lamore d’Madonna. Love of the mother.

This oil is 20×30 and was one of the first that I did, that I was happy with the result….and capturing the image that I did.

That said, it was not the image I started with…but the feeling was there most of all.

I was working from a black an white photo that my Uncle Jerry took of my other sleeping with me tucked up against her. Somewhere in my lack of skill, and my subconscious it morphed into my wife hold our son, who was about the same age I was at the time of the photo.

I don’t know what that says about what, Freud be damned…but I do know that this painting just smells of the easy love between a mother and son in a way that words cannot describe.

It is unfortunate that things that beautiful come in such small doses.

Spread the love
