This painting came from a couple of different rooms in the sanitarium I call my mind. The immediate inspiration came from me browsing the art of others and I ended up down this rabbit hole of women standing under street lights. As I wandered about the internet they became more and more focused and I found a theme narrowing to be Victorian images. Proving that art is fantasy, these women all seemed to be standing about without a care in the world and even though it was night they were not being harassed, attacked, or otherwise molested in any way.

Well I prefer my art to have a more realistic feel to balance my less than realistic presentation.

My first thought was to go with the Victorian theme and put Jack the Ripper in the scene. But as I played with sketches I found myself going back to one of my favorite monsters. The Vampire. Not the sparkly, romantic vampires that most of the world enjoys. To me vampires are tortured souls, disfigured and starving, they are servants of Satan himself and are twisted and disfigured accordingly.

Which is why Nosferatu is the perfect vampire (in appearance if not quality of film and story telling, although ‘Salems Lot got him right in my book.) So I went with that.

At any rate I hope you enjoy this spooky image, that came from other people making pleasant images and my inability to accept that.
