Here is another of my cryptid drawings. This one is of a creature specific to the deep south of the USA. Even more specific to the state of Alabama.
When looking into the comically named beast, I found that descriptions range from large white cat with humanish features to albino bigfoot and back again. I decided to lean more towards the humanish cat, just because it was nice to have something different than a bigfoot…even though I love bigfoot… but I do like variety in my unproven creatures.
Anyway, it was a lot of fun using the lines of the forest to create depth and visual weight behind the shock white cat man.
Here is all the information I could extract from the robot that I captured about the Alabama White Thang. Those things can take a beating.
Everything about the Alabama White Thang:
- Descriptions:
- The Alabama White Thang (or “White Thing”) is a regional cryptid reported primarily in northern Alabama.
- It is typically described as a creature covered in long, shaggy white hair.
- It is said to be about 7-8 feet tall, resembling a Bigfoot-like figure.
- Behavioral Traits:
- Sightings often describe it as being shy and avoiding humans.
- Witnesses report that it moves quickly, almost gliding or leaping away when approached.
- It is associated with emitting high-pitched screams or unsettling growls.
- Physical Variations:
- Some accounts suggest it walks upright like a human, while others describe it running on all fours.
- A few witnesses claim it has glowing red or yellow eyes.
- There are variations in size, with some describing it as the size of a bear and others as smaller or even feline-like.
- Regional Lore:
- Reports center around Morgan, Etowah, and Jefferson counties in Alabama.
- Stories often connect the White Thang to forested areas, caves, or abandoned properties.
- Local legends tie the creature to Native American myths or to spirits guarding the land.
- Paranormal Associations:
- Some believe the White Thang is a ghostly or interdimensional being, appearing and vanishing without a trace.
- Reports occasionally mention it “floating” rather than walking, contributing to theories of its otherworldly nature.
- Radical Claims:
- Certain accounts suggest the White Thang is more than one creature, possibly a family or a group of cryptids living in secret.
- Others believe it has supernatural powers, such as the ability to mimic human voices or animal sounds to lure victims.
- A few describe it as a shape-shifter or a harbinger of bad luck or death.
- Absurd Allegations:
- Some speculate the White Thang is an alien creature stranded on Earth.
- A fringe theory claims it is a government experiment gone awry, possibly involving genetic manipulation or hybrid creatures.
- There are outlandish stories of it riding on UFOs or being accompanied by other cryptids, such as Dogman or Chupacabra.
The Alabama White Thang remains a popular topic of folklore and speculation, blending elements of local legend, cryptozoology, and the paranormal.
