This is another of my older paintings from when I thought I wanted to work in oil. A bit of a concept piece and another recurring theme in my work. Making normal things, or in this case erotic things, weird and uncomfortable. The woman is posed quite suggestively, but absent her skin it is just not quite as sexy. I played with a couple of titles when I did it, with ‘more than skin deep’ being the alternative. I ended up going with ‘Skinless Chicken’ because it felt like it was more representative of the commodification of sexuality…which I of course was contributing to by making art of it. Hypocrisy is fun boys and girls.
