I tell ya what.

Reorganizing your life around and building a real business based entirely around your creativity is some work. This is especially true if you have eclectic interests, no monies, no prior art career (did the ‘adult’ thing out of school miserably), are utterly untrained in any graphic skill (very average autodidact), and then get to top all that off with being mentally unhealthy.

That said. I also think that list of things is a big part of why this business will continue to grow and be successful. Partially because that is how I think. Problems are solutions.

Eclectic Interests? I know how to handle that. 4 separate branded websites that each cater to major subsets of my interests. Which is why we have this site (for all of my art), Relevant Irreverence (which has evolved into my Production brand…more on that later), Blue Ribbon Team (a loose lifestyle webzine blog), and Cernunnos Foundation (not only the parent company of the group, but my hippy projects go on the website there).

Of course, nothing remains static and my next contribution to the roaring disorder is Fortean Giftorium…which is really just the storefront that serves this whole company and its brands. It does maintain a theme and primary product line of Fortean based art and subjects. My personal interests will keep it close to aliens and cryptids…but who knows what monsters, creeps, creatures, or spirits I may try to make a dime on.

No Monies? – I just told you the answer to that too. Most of this only costs me my mind and my effort…so here I go. Check it out.

No prior art career? All this means to me is that I have no negative history (and I spent 30 years hiding my pain in a bottle and grinding work to pay the bills so you can imagine how much of a dick I have been if you didnt experience it) and I am well positioned to be a disruptor to any industry I work in.

No training? Look. I know the value of education. I also know I love to learn by crashing things. It has given me interesting results in my artistic journey and my mixed experiences are going to be heavily reflected in the project that I am hinting at today.

Poor Mental Health? – That my friend is what we call art fuel. Sure its a cliche….but you don’t think my thoughts are this wild because I feel good about things do you? haha. Enjoy my pain.

The long and the short is everything is an asset and I will use them all to keep producing.

That said, the name Relevant Irreverence did not fit the way the story and show I am developing was going….so I decided to keep it where it is and to use it for the full production company side of the house because the show (Now named Utharwerld) is going to be one of many projects getting posted through there, including it being a place to house Fortean Giftorium and its new listing write ups.

Spread the love
